Can a Wii Classic Controller be used for all Wii games?

Crossing out the obvious games (Wii sports, Guitar Hero etc.) can the Wii Classic Controller be used for most games like Animal Crossing: City Folk and New Super Mario Bros. Wii?

Just look on the back of the game case, and it will tell you if you can use the Wii classic controller.

I don’t think House of the Dead games would be able to use the classic controller.
